Malignancy #Poetry

This word is full of people

Who feel self-entitled

Who want to be dignified

They’re more important

They’re above you

Above us all

These ideals are what holds us back as human beings

Your job

Your economic status

Your religion

Your sexual orientation

Your gender

Nor your skin color

Makes you no better than anyone else

I wish people would see

It’s an imagined social status

That is segregating people

Causing more riffs

Turmoil

For what?

Stroking your own ego?

You are the fool

And those who embrace humanity

We are the many

Our words of love

Will not be hushed

By your spews of hatred

Extricate #Poetry

Hair in a bun

(Must be colors found in nature)

Clothes groomed

(Nothing provocative)

Makeup on

(Simple, classic)

Smile sweetly

Soft claps for passing the unity test

Name tag placed neatly on a pressed shirt

We passed their society test

Herded together like mindless sheep

Blank expression masked by an emotionless smile

Day in and day out

Living to conformity

My mask beginning to crack as the smile leaves my face

Thoughts of uniqueness slipping from the concrete cell of my mind

A visceral cry escaping my lips

Hands involuntarily yanking my shinning hair from its bun

Sending strands flying in freedom

Feet moving away from the shocked faces

Ripping the clean pressed shirt

Using it as a rag

Streaking the makeup across my face

I am not a robot

I am more than just some label

My heart pounds as music pours from my lips

This is freedom

This is life

This is me

Abrasive #Poetry

She acted as if she had thick skin

Not allowing them to see how their words stuck to her

Even though they were stamped hard against her skin

Their ink slowly began to ooze

Filling her pores

Seeping into her skin

Lacing her blood cells

Sending the putrid thoughts to her mind

Snaking around her confidence and optimism

Lacing them with venomous words

Having them play over in her mind

As a song stuck on  repeat

Not be able to fend off the cold, painful embrace

Of the hate and lies

Her light dimmed

The darkness began its feast

Release #Poetry

Arm stretched

Tea sipped

Headphones on

Beats pumping in music

She set the tone for her trance

And she embraced it

Ideas musing

Words combining

Linking together to show her creativity

She never edited herself

Letting her truth

Her soul

Pour out onto the screen

Writing is her digital therapy

Nothing before has set her free

Divided #Poetry

Eyes closed

Taking a deep breathe

Holding it in

Looking for her courage deep inside

She stood up

Letting the air out slowly

She would not allow herself to be unheard

She was against the hate speech

The violence

The killing

She would recite her words

Yell them to the heavens if she has too

Hate will never beat love

Segregation will not destroy acceptance

We are human beings should be united
