Reluctance #Poetry

Taking a deep breath

She held it until he lungs hurt

Letting the air explode from her lungs

But ended in a sigh

She had to do this

There was no choice

Even knowing this didn’t help her move her leaden feet

Her free hand clung tightly to her black dress

Her other hand trembled uncontrolled as she clutched the card she made

She closed her eyes

Forcing her tears back

As she walked through the door

And signed the guest book

“With deepest sympathy, I will always love you my friend.”

Internment #Poetry

Thin fingers drumming the wooden desk

Echoing loudly in the silent room

This didn’t break her focus

As she watched the clock slowly click

A bead of sweat trickled slowly down her cheek

The anticipation was killing her

She bit her lower lip as she looked around the room

The alarm of the timer went off

Causing her to jump quickly from her chair

She rushed to the door swinging open wide

The smile plastered on her face faded

As she was met by emptiness

Hanging her head defeated she grabbed a black sharpie

She slowly added a grey line from the faded tip

Her eyes glazed as she saw the endless ticks on the wall

Too many to count

Days faded into months, weeks and years

She started the timer again

The countdown flashing behind her

Sitting in the chair she sighed

Hoping the next time the beeps filled the air

Would mean she wouldn’t be alone

Fortitude #Poetry

Winds whipping

Sending rain in every direction

The only light is from the bolt of lightning

This shocks my heart

Reminding it to keeping beating

In a sea of calm

This is my personal storm

The one I must face head on

I will not allow stress to suffocate my voice

My sadness will be used as a weapon

My pen will face off with its sword

My passion flows through the ink

Making my pen mightier than anything the darkness can throw at me

I will elevate my creativity

Providing me radiance as I trudge through the dark night

In Memoriam #Poetry

The weather today is fitting to my mood

Rain silently falling from the grey sky

Wrapping the weather around my mood

If it was 4 years ago today, this day would have been a celebration:

August 27, 2013

My Grandmother’s birthday

My rock, my mentor, and my friend

I was closer with my Grandmother than I was with anyone else

Today is her day

The day I pay homage to her

Her Birthday

The person I loving dubbed as Grammy

She would have been 79 years old today

Her kindness, light and love is what I remember most

Certain people in your life with stick with you forever

Her death ripped my heart to shreds

It’s been 3 years and it’s still healing

Tears fill my eyes as I write this

Knowing I can’t spend time with her

Call her

And let her know what she means to me

I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover

Blogger Recognition Award

Hello my fellow bloggers! I am so happy to announce that I was nominated for the, “Blogger Recognition Ward.” The nomination is for bloggers from other bloggers. It gives the opportunity for blogs to be seen and read by other people who may not have seen your work before. I’m always awestruck when someone nominates me for any award but especially a blogger award. There are so many amazing bloggers and it’s truly inspiring and humbling to be thought of.

Who Nominated Me?

I was nominated by Valerie, who blogs about simple tips for people that have no time. These time saving ideas are brilliant and things I would never have thought of.  I really like the fact that she’s not focusing on just one topic either, she gives tips from health to college and career. There’s great ideas in her blog for anyone that has a busy life and even if you don’t who doesn’t like to save some time? Check her out, give her a follow and enjoy her tips. You won’t be disappointed. http://www.simpletipsblog.com/

My Advice For Bloggers

There’s two big things that come into my mind for advice for any blogger, no matter the theme or ideas of your blog. The first one is blog about something you truly love, enjoy and are passionate about. ThiIs will shine through your posts and draw more people to you. Don’t worry if you feel like it’s not a popular blog topic, there will always be people out there who want to read what you write. So, don’t be discourage and keep true to yourself!

The second thing is interact with the blogging community. I was nervous to do this at first because I thought so many things from I’m not a big enough blogger for people to want to talk too or no one will want to read my posts. But one day I decided too and it was the best and biggest step for me. All the bloggers I have interacted with have been completely supportive, kind and given constructive criticism, which only helps me to grow as a writer and blogger. Please take a second, give your thoughts on a blog, go to twitter and join a blogging community or five.

Why I Started My Blog

I had only shown a handful of family and friends my writings and creative thoughts before. I was nervous about sharing them with anyone else. There are so many talented people in this world but I realized they only have grown as writer’s from sharing their works with others. Big or small publishing, blogs or writings groups- this is when I knew I was holding myself back by not doing so. I created my blog and began to post, not knowing what I was doing or how to do it. I jumped in head first and have learned everything as I go. This has made the journey fun and fulling for me. I can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner but am so happy to be blogging now.
