Breaking Free #Poetry

The piano’s melody lulling me into a sense of comfort

Allowing me to open my mind

Bypassing the masses

Who congregate

Side by side

So close but so far

No one speaks

Eyes gazed as they scroll through endless social feeds

I look at the world around me

Taking in all the simple beauties of the world

Music

The welcome savior

Of the social media confides

Seasons of Fight

Light tapping of rain on my window

Willing me awake

I grumble opening my eyes and gazing into the grey

The warmer water washing the ice and snow away

Softly placing my hand on the window, the cool glass taking over my warmth

Leaving an outline of my hand

It slowly fades as I lazily close the curtain

Spring is battling the long, cold, winter

The season changing

Revealing spring as the victor

The heat of summer will soon be seeping in

Slowly beginning to challenge the Spring

Taking the crown swiftly

The next contender waiting patiently

Embracing the Fall #Poetry

I sip my hot honey tea

As I breathe in this crisp morning air

The summer heat

Taken over by cool breeze

Wrapped in a hoodie and sweat pants

I smile as I see the leaves changing from green to beautiful autumn shades

Inspiring changes within myself

The month I love the most

Full of pumpkin spice

Costume planning

Apple cider

Welcome Fall

Welcome October

Welcome the new me

Reluctance #Poetry

Taking a deep breath

She held it until he lungs hurt

Letting the air explode from her lungs

But ended in a sigh

She had to do this

There was no choice

Even knowing this didn’t help her move her leaden feet

Her free hand clung tightly to her black dress

Her other hand trembled uncontrolled as she clutched the card she made

She closed her eyes

Forcing her tears back

As she walked through the door

And signed the guest book

“With deepest sympathy, I will always love you my friend.”

Internment #Poetry

Thin fingers drumming the wooden desk

Echoing loudly in the silent room

This didn’t break her focus

As she watched the clock slowly click

A bead of sweat trickled slowly down her cheek

The anticipation was killing her

She bit her lower lip as she looked around the room

The alarm of the timer went off

Causing her to jump quickly from her chair

She rushed to the door swinging open wide

The smile plastered on her face faded

As she was met by emptiness

Hanging her head defeated she grabbed a black sharpie

She slowly added a grey line from the faded tip

Her eyes glazed as she saw the endless ticks on the wall

Too many to count

Days faded into months, weeks and years

She started the timer again

The countdown flashing behind her

Sitting in the chair she sighed

Hoping the next time the beeps filled the air

Would mean she wouldn’t be alone
